Updates soon!

Yes, I know I've been promising this forever, but webpage queen Kathleen promises me that the first chapter of LITTLE EARTHQUAKES will be up by Monday morning!

Meanwhile, to answer a question a lot of you have been asking lately: what ever happened to JEZEBEL BRIGHT?

The short answer is, I finished it and wasn't very happy with it.

There were parts that I loved, and parts that I thought weren't working as well as I wanted them to. So, rather than inflicting it upon the book-buying public, I set it aside for the time being and wrote a book about new motherhood.

I think that I'll come back to it at some point down the road -- there was a lot about the book, and especially its main character, that I really liked, and there is a story in there, somewhere, that I want to tell -- but for the time being, it's officially on the back burner.

So there you have it.

In other news, Lucy is growing by the proverbial leaps and bounds.

I feel as if she's turned a major corner in the past few weeks, where we're now at the point where it actually feels like she understands some of what we're saying to her.

If we say "Lucy, clap your hands!" and there's nothing better going on, she'll clap her hands together.

If we say "Lucy, wave bye-bye!" she'll think about it for a minute, turn her hands toward herself, and clench and unclench them in a baby facsimile of a wave.

And -- my personal favorite -- if we say, "Lucy, pat your 'fro!" she will giggle, then pat her little curly-head with both hands.

It's really something.

The girl and I will be heading down to Florida for a few days this week to watch Nanna make her on-camera debut. Meanwhile, enjoy LITTLE EARTHQUAKES!
