Diaz trying on 'Shoes'

Oscar nommed Grant penned sibling rivalry pic

Cameron Diaz is in negotiations to star in the Fox 2000 pic "In Her Shoes," based on the bestseller by former Philadelphia Inquirer journo Jennifer Weiner.

Susannah Grant penned the "Shoes" script. Story follows the sibling rivalry between an irresponsible party girl, who be played by Diaz, and her sister, an ambitious attorney, who move in together. Trouble begins when the Diaz character beds the boyfriend of the older sis. She is thrown out of the apartment and moves into the Princeton U. library, living in a study room and sleeping under carrels.

Diaz most recently toplined "Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle" at Columbia. In addition to voicing the part of Princess Fiona in DreamWorks' "Shrek 2," she is attached to Sony's remake of "Fun With Dick and Jane," with Jim Carrey starring and producing with Imagine principal Brian Grazer.

Grant, like Diaz, is repped by CAA, and received an original screenplay Oscar nom for "Erin Brockovich." Other credits include "28 Days," "Ever After" and "Pocahontas."

Weiner created a splash with her first novel "Good in Bed," a 2001 bestseller about a Philadelphia reporter obsessed with her weight and men.
